Public transport options on Sado Island include buses, taxis, and sight-seeing buses. If you don’t want to worry about timetables, bringing your own car to Sado or renting one here is a great option. If you want to rent a car, advanced reservations are recommended, especially in summer.

There will be EC Shuttle Buses (EC Charter Buses and EC Express Buses) operating in addition to regular local bus services during EC—Aug. 22 (Fri)–24 (Mon). The main events at EC take place just a few minutes on foot from Ogi Port. Traveling to the EC venues in Ogi via local island buses takes approximately 1h 50m from Ryotsu Port and 1hr 30m from Aikawa. Rental cars are ideal for small groups or families with children, offering you the freedom to travel between EC events and your accommodation without adhering to timetables. We recommend booking rental cars for EC as early as possible because demand is very high in summer on Sado Island, especially during EC, but the number of rental cars available is limited.

You can bring your own car to Sado Island using the regular car ferry services. This is a popular choice for small groups, families, and people with a lot of camping gear and luggage. This option is recommended for small groups or for those who want to enjoy various areas of Sado Island other than Ogi (EC’s main venue). In addition to the sample courses, customized courses can be arranged if you have places you would like to visit during EC.
