Khusugtun

Miyake-jima Geino Doshi-kai

From volcanic Miyake Island, south of Tokyo, Miyake-jima Geino Doshi-kai is a family taiko group known for their visceral, powerful performances. Comprised of a father and his three sons, they uphold a distinctive style of taiko drumming that provides the pulse of the island’s festivals, played from an extremely low stance. As they teach and perform Miyake Taiko throughout Japan and around the world, they pass their sound and technique from one generation to the next.
